Selected essays of Montaigne
These are essays that Montaigne published in 1575, and they were
translated into English by Charles Cotton. I have not yet been
able to find out the date of this translation, though I believe
it to be sometime in the 1670s.
I have listed the essays here in the order that they Mr. Cotton
gave them, but I have also listed the order they were given in
the edition of 1595. The approximate date of composition for
each essay also follows its title***.
